Changing the World from the Inside Out

Ashram 50th Anniversary and 11th Annual Yoga for Peace Symposium

Roshi Bernie Glassman, Roshi Eve Myonen Marko, John Perkins, Richard Moss, Marilyn Schlitz, and Swami Brahmananda

As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ashram this year with the 11th annual Yoga for Peace Symposium, we continue Swami Vishnudevananda’s commitment to peace. For the past 10 years, this symposium has created important exchange and conversation, bringing together leaders of NGOs and nonprofits, spiritual activists, and teachers, all of whom embody peace and work to create social change through yoga and spiritual practice.

This year, we continue the legacy, with deepened emphasis on Swami Vishnudevananda’s fundamental teaching that in knowing our own inner peace we create peace in the world. Yoga and spiritual practice provide the tools for every single person to be a peace activist. Throughout the week, you will gain inspiration to know that what is inside you is all you need; that the fruits of practice lead you to think, speak, and act in alignment with your true nature, which can only be peace.

At this significant time in human history — prophesied across cultures — we hold the great potential to heal humanity.

Join us as we:
• Consider ancient Vedic and Mayan prophesies, what they foresaw and their guidance for how we are to respond
• Discuss how our spiritual practices allow us to see and act clearly so that we can be successful peace activists, no matter our role in society
• Explore how our quality of being is our most powerful tool to create the change we want to see in the world
• See together that the crises of our times are actually our calling to serve.
